A good constitutional judgment – experts

WINDHOEK – Legal experts and political analysts have commended the Supreme Court judgment on the 2009 election case as good for constitutional democracy in Namibia.

The Supreme Court ruling referred back to the High Court the court challenge of the 2009 Presidential and National Assembly election results by opposition parties.

However, the experts caution that it could take months, if not longer, before the matter is decided because of the sheer lengthy legal processes required before the case is heard in the High Court.

“I think it is a good constitutional judgment,” said constitutional law expert, Professor Nico Horn, while political analyst, Graham Hopwood, says the ruling “shows the seriousness of the justice system” in the country. read more...
