ANNOUNCEMENT OF STATE MEMORIAL AND STATE FUNERAL FOR THE LATE PRESIDENT, HONOURABLE DR HAGE G GEINGOB

„It has been announced that the State Memorial will be on Saturday, 24 February 2024 and the State Funeral is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 25 February 2024, in Windhoek.

The Embassy further wishes to inform that Sunday, 25 February 2024, has been declared a public holiday as per Holidays Act of the Republic of Namibia. Subsequently, Monday, 26 February 2024, will also be a public holiday.”

KONDOLENZBUCH / CONDOLENCE BOOK OPEN TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FRIDAY, 23 FEBRUARY 2024

The Embassy wishes to inform  with utmost sadness and regret that the 3 ^rd President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Dr. Hage Gottfried Geingob, passed away on 4 February 2024.

A period of national mourning has been declared from 5 February 2024 until the date of the funeral, which will be announced soonest. A Book of Condolences has been opened at the Chancery of the Republic of Namibia, Reichsstrasse 17, 14052, Berlin, on Monday, 5 February 2024 .

The Book will remain open throughout the mourning period from Monday to Friday, 10h00 to 12h00 and 14h00 to 16h00.

In tiefer Trauer und mit großem Bedauern teilt die Botschaft mit, dass der 3. Präsident der Republik Namibia, S.E. Dr. Hage Gottfried Geingob, am 4. Februar 2024 verstorben ist.

Ab dem 5. Februar 2024, bis zum Datum der Beerdigung, das so bald wie möglich bekannt gegeben wird, wurde eine Staatstrauer verhängt. Am Montag, den 5. Februar 2024, wurde in der Kanzlei der Republik Namibia, Reichsstraße 17, 14052 Berlin, ein Kondolenzbuch eröffnet.

Das Buch wird während der gesamten Trauerzeit von Montag bis Freitag in der Zeit von 10.00 bis 12.00 Uhr und von 14.00 bis 16.00 Uhr für die Öffentlichkeit ausliegen und zugänglich sein.
